About Us
At Sunrise Counseling, we believe that relationships—whether with others, with yourself, or with the world around you—shape the core of our emotional and spiritual wellbeing. When these relationships feel connected and grounded, life feels meaningful. When they are strained, we can feel lost, overwhelmed, or alone.
Founded by Sarah Harrison, MA, LMFT, Sunrise Counseling was created as a warm, relational space where individuals, couples, children, and families can be supported with both clinical excellence and genuine human care. We are passionate about integrating research-based therapeutic approaches with compassion, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s story.
Today, Sunrise Counseling has grown into a collaborative practice dedicated to helping you cultivate flourishing in every season of life. Our team brings experience in marriage and couples therapy, trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, parenting support, postpartum transitions, identity and life changes, grief, and stress-related challenges.
We don’t rush the process. We don’t offer one-size-fits-all solutions.
We walk alongside you—at your pace—toward greater clarity, healing, and connection, both within yourself and in the relationships that matter most.
Whether you are seeking support as an individual, strengthening your marriage, navigating a major life transition, or caring for your family, we’re here to guide you with presence, skill, and hope.
You don’t have to do this alone.
We’re here to help you rebuild from the inside out—toward a life marked by peace, connection, and wholeness.

Meet The Team

When we feel alone, we begin to understand loneliness. But when we’re in a relationship and still feel alone—that’s a different kind of pain. As human beings, our need for connection is deeply rooted in our biology. We are wired for relationship, yet maintaining one takes courage, humility, and work.

As a Certified Gottman Method Therapist, I specialize in helping couples build stronger, more fulfilling relationships. Drawing from over five decades of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, I teach research-based tools that help couples improve communication, rebuild trust, and reconnect emotionally and physically. I am trained to help couples heal from challenges such as affairs, addiction, and trauma, and my goal is not only to reduce conflict but to help you create a relationship grounded in friendship, respect, and intimacy.
Research shows that 69% of relationship problems are perpetual—rooted in personality differences rather than resolvable issues. Our work together focuses on managing these differences through effective communication, empathy, and understanding, so that you can navigate conflict without damaging your emotional connection.
As a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional, I also integrate evidence-based approaches to restore friendship, passion, and intimacy within relationships. I believe that when partners feel truly known and understood, they are able to influence each other positively and deepen their emotional and physical connection.
I offer marriage intensives in the Denver Metro Area, designed to help couples achieve meaningful progress in a condensed, focused setting. These intensives are an investment in your relationship—a way to pack the equivalent of six months of therapy into a weekend. Using tools like the Gottman Relationship Checkup and Gottman Relationship Builder, couples receive powerful insights and ongoing resources to continue growth long after our sessions end.
In addition to couples therapy, I provide in-person and online therapy for individuals as young as age 5, as well as family therapy and parenting support.
Parenting can be both beautiful and overwhelming. Comparisons often steal our joy, especially when we feel like we’re not doing “enough.” Whether you’re juggling co-parenting after divorce, navigating your child’s behavioral or emotional challenges, or trying to balance it all as a single parent, I’m here to help you feel seen, supported, and equipped with tools that work.
I’ve spent over a decade working with children, teens, and families in a variety of settings, including child welfare, outpatient programs, psychiatric hospitals, residential dual-diagnosis centers, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. I have been accepted by the courts in Douglas, Arapahoe, Adam's, and Elbert County as a blind expert witness in children/adolescent sexual abuse cases and testify at jury trials.
I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, depression, behavioral issues, trauma, divorce, parenting challenges, and family conflict. I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a highly effective, evidence-based approach for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Colorado and Florida, I am trained to work with individuals, couples, and families through every stage of life. Whether you’re seeking personal growth, support for your child, or a stronger connection with your partner, I strive to provide a safe, compassionate, and collaborative environment where healing and change can take root.

If you’ve found yourself feeling lost — unsure how to ground yourself, relate to others, or return to your own voice — you’re not alone. I hold space for you to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with what’s real inside you.
I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Dance Movement Psychotherapist, and my work centers on supporting individuals, couples, and mothers who are navigating seasons of transition, overwhelm, grief, or disconnection.
I specialize in working with couples longing to feel close again, new and postpartum mothers adjusting to life’s tender and disorienting changes, and individuals who are processing grief, anxiety, trauma, and identity shifts. Whether your transition is joyful, chaotic, heartbreaking, or simply unfamiliar, I believe that meaningful healing begins when we feel seen, supported, and safe to be exactly where we are.
My approach is warm, embodied, and relational. I blend somatic therapy, IFS (parts work), CBT, and a psychoanalytic lens to explore the deeper patterns that shape how we think, feel, and relate. Together, we’ll work with your nervous system — not against it — so you can learn to recognize your needs, set boundaries rooted in self-worth, and cultivate a sense of inner steadiness and clarity. Your story matters, and the way your body has held your experiences matters too.
In our sessions, we won’t rush. We’ll listen to the emotions beneath your words, the tension your body holds, and the parts of you that learned to survive. Healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new — it means remembering who you already are, learning to trust yourself again, and restoring connection to the relationships and values that matter most.

I've worked several years in inpatient psych units, homeless shelters, and outpatient with adults, children, and veterans, specializing in depression, suicide, TBIs, and anxiety. I have also studied experiential therapy integrated somatic activity and adventure based therapy to help couples and individuals restore resiliency and connection.
You deserve to feel grounded in your own life. You deserve relationships that feel safe, nourishing, and honest. You deserve to feel like yourself again — even if you’re still figuring out who that is.

I’m here to walk with you — gently, together, at your pace.
